Dimash was invited as a guest performer to celebrate the Finale of Singer 2018 on April 20 2018. He performed his explosive cover of Hello, a song made popular in ’70s by Lionel Ritchie.

Several hundred reactors on Youtube have given positive responses to this new cover. In my opinion, the way he ended the song is particularly superb, with the combination of Eastern and Western voice techniques and awe-inspiring embellishments.

At first when I heard that Dimash was going to sing Hello by Lionel Richie, I thought I might have heard wrong. And I relaxed when I also heard that he was going to sing Adele’s Hello. Was it probably because I thought no one could ever give a better rendition of Lionel’s Hello? I grew up with Lionel Ritchie, and Hello was practically the theme song of the 70s. I was mistaken on all fronts. Firstly, it was Lionel’s Hello he was going to sing. Secondly, it is complete waste of time worrying about how Dimash would sing a song. He will sing a song and he will sing it perfectly, giving it his own special stamp, his signature perfection, and produce emotions galore.

This was the song of Lionel Richie, but I would also stress that this, now, is Dimash Kudaibergen’s Lionel Richie’s song Hello. And I probably understand why he chose this song. On the night of Singer’s 2018 finale, he celebrated his one-year anniversary of his own finale night with Singer. And what better way to greet the Singer stage on this night, than by singing to the Singer audience, his Dears, and a full one year of remarkable  memories — Hello, is it me you’re looking for? You’re all I’ve ever wanted and my arms are open wide, ‘Cause you know just what to say, And you know just what to do, And I want to tell you so much, I love you…
