The 25th session of the People’s Assembly of Kazakhstan was held in Astana (now renamed Nursultan) on April 26, 2017. Dimash, at the age of 22, attended the session as a youth representative and delivered a speech calling for all young Kazakhstanis. In his speech, Dimash thanked all the people of Kazakhstan who supported his artistic path and said that he would continue to work as a man who, like President Nazarbayev, had tried to contribute to the world of Kazakh people.
Dimash’s message: “As you know, with your excellent wisdom, you (in the name of President Nazarbayev) have allowed Kazakhstan to take a place on the world political arena, laying the foundation for our inclusion in the world’s advanced nation. As a singer who pursues the road of art, I will follow you as an example, through my song, to introduce Kazakhstan’s glorious culture, immortal history, glorious images to all peoples of the world, whether past, present and future, which is my most important purpose. On the stage of any country in the world, I would be proud to introduce people that I am from Kazakhstan, an independent and dignified country. You have said that the future of an open, independent, prosperous and autonomous Kazakhstan is in the hands of every young Kazakh. For every prospective young man, it is now our golden age. I therefore appeal here in particular to all young friends to strive for the revival and rise of Kazakh.” Dimash Kudaibergen said. Leading Up To Singer 2017
Leading up to Singer 2017 and success in China
In late 2016, Kudaibergen was recommended to Hong Tao, the director and producer of China’s high profile competition Singer, a 14 week popular Hunan TV contest for established professional singers. Hong invited Kudaibergen to Changsha, China, to audition, and was impressed with his voice, musicality and potential to become a star. Kudaibergen then signed a contract with Black Gold Talent in Beijing, and his participation in Singer 2017 was confirmed.
Being the youngest participant in the history of the show, at age 22, and competing against professional and top-selling Chinese singers, he was brought in as a ‘wildcard’. Singer is known for being a tough competition, with a 500-member studio audience voting each episode, and the singer with the lowest score being replaced by a new one each round. Dimash’s mother Svetlana Aitbayeva later said that he hoped to reach at least the middle stage of the competition.
And the rest is history.
